Virtual archaeology : ウィキペディア英語版
Virtual archaeology
Virtual archaeology is a term introduced in 1990 by computer scientist Paul Reilly to describe the use of computer based simulations of archaeological excavations.〔(1 ), Reilly P., 1991. Towards a virtual archaeology. CAA’90. BAR Intern.s. Vol.565:133–139.〕 Since that time, scientific results related to virtual archaeology were annually discussed, among others, at Computer Applications and Quantitative Methods in Archaeology (CAA).〔(2 ), САА https://caaconference.org/ocs/index.php?conference=caa&schedConf=caa2015〕 The keyword "visualization" defined the aim of the virtual archaeology in the London Charter Initiative:
Since its introduction, the focus of the term has been extended, and today it serves as an integration paradigm that allows many modern three-dimensional datasets to be analysed together, taking account preliminary reconstructions of archaeological sites and guiding further investigations, for example through archaeological prospection, historical research or excavation. In this iterative and incremental process, the interpretation and virtual representation of results is only one, albeit important, outcome.〔(4 ), Sideris A., 2008. ("Re-contextualized Antiquity: Interpretative VR Visualisation of Ancient Art and Architecture" ) in Mikropoulos T. A. and Papachristos N. M. (eds.), ''Proceedings: International Symposium on “Information and Communication Technologies in Cultural Heritage” October 16-18, 2008'', University of Ioannina 2008, ISBN 978-960-98691-0-2, pp. 159-176. 〕 Consequently, by using 3D printing technologies, results may even be created as physical reality.〔(5 ), Hookk D.Yu., 2014. (From Illusion to reality: transformation of the term "virtual archaeology" ) 〕 Such a development was discussed at the first international conference on virtual archaeology, organized by the Department of Eastern Europe and Siberian Archaeology of the State Hermitage Museum, which took place in Saint Petersburg in 2012.〔(6 ), International project "Virtual Archaeology" http://www.virtualarchaeology.ru〕 A second meeting was held at the State Hermitage Museum in 2015, resulting in a new edited volume.〔(7 ), Virtual archaeology (methods and benefits). Proceedings of the Second International Conference held at the State Hermitage Museum 1–3 June 2015. Ed.by D.Hookk. SPb: The State Hermitage Publishers. 290 p. ISBN 978-5-93572-608-9 〕
